In Genesis Chapter 6:22 we are told that Noah done everything the Lord Commanded him to do. Noah was 500 years old when his three sons were born. He was six hundred years old when he entered the ark. So we have a span of one hundred years. His sons were already married when Noah got the call to build the ark (Genesis 6:9 & 7:13). I have to deduce that it didn’t take Noah long to build the ark. Genesis 11 tells us Shem was 100 two years after the flood. So Shem would have been 97 when he entered the ark. I know I was taught that Noah took 120 years to build the ark. But that can’t be true if only 8 people were saved on the ark. Look again at chapter 11:10 Shem had his third son. When were the first two born? Shem’s wife became pregnant when she got off the ark. If Shem had his third son 2 years after getting off the ark I would have to reason that the first two sons where twins. I’m under the impression that it took Noah less than five years to build the ark.
