When I 'm out sharing the word of God or preaching I'll always run across someone who declares that my church says, my Mom and Dad followed this teaching, and if it was good enough for them it's good enough for me. Folk's it doesn't matter what people think is the truth. What matters is what the bible says is true. It's not the Bible and another book of rules, it's not the Bible and another set of practices. It's the Bible; and there is enough eyewitness accounts, examples, practices to substain the bible that it does'nt need the opinion's of men to help it along. We need to ask concerning the practices in our churches some questions to see if those practices past the test.
1. Thus say the Lord; Is the practice in line with God's word.
2. Thus doeth as the early Christian; their example on matters of faith (essentials and non-essentials) should be a practical guide for worship, daily living, evangelism.
To go beyond the word in practice or deed should make us reconsider who we are really following, what we are following and where we are following those who lead.
The bible stands and it alone is our guide in matters of faith. So that is why we need to study the bible to show ourselves approved.
