The cost of discipleship

Discipleship demands your faithfulness that follows the pattern of the teacher. Are you ready for that kind of commitment for your life. If you do this right, there will be those who will nail you to the cross. It will take away from your "me" time, it will cost you in giving. I'm not trying to scare you away from giving your life to Christ. I want you to be aware of the commitment to being a true disciple which involves more then church attendance.

Luke 14:26      Matthew 10:34-37       Luke 9:23-25        Luke 14:27        2nd Timothy 3:12       Luke 14:33

When Jesus made know what it cost to be a disciple many left him because the price was to high and to hard. They turned and walked away and I'm sure many today have turned and walked away once they found out about the commitment. What they lost sight of was the rewards that far out weight the cost of following Jesus. It's not that our focus is on the rewards it's that hope realizes the benefits and we get caught up in this struggle between hope and doubt and people give up.

If every baseball player who got into a batters slump just gave up how would baseball be effected? But they don't give up they keep practicing, trying to find new ways to hit the ball. They soon overcome the slump and the pay off is being a better hitter. As a Christian always strive to be a disciple even when the cost seems unbearable.
