The Good Samaritan

Updated: Jun 8, 2020

This is from notes I took when listening to a sermon being preached. This sermon was preached by Glen Bias. The notes are my reflected thoughts I had but also contain phrases and points that Glen used in his sermon.

Luke 10:25-37 (read before you go on)

What are some good things that we can do?

We might call these things Good works, Bearing Fruit, Shinning as lights, none of these things will buy our salvation. But they are things that build up our faith and hope. It teaches us to love others and put them before ourselves.

Galatians 6:2

We have opportunity to impact others by bearing fruit. Bearing fruit generally puts us in a position to being a good Samaritan.

Luke 10:30-37

We should go and do likewise.

"Like a good neighbor State Farm is there" could be said this way "Like a good neighbor the Samaritan is there"

There will always be a need where Christians can step in and bear fruit.

This Samaritans were disliked by the Jews. But He was willing to take the time out of his life to intervene.

Matthew 25:35-40

DTR= Define the relationship

2nd Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourself and see if your a Good Samaritan.

Matthew 3:10-17 and Matthew 7:20

People know that your setting in Church every Sunday morning. They are taking notice and they may not say anything. But do people know you as a Good Samaritan?

Matthew 5:14-16

John 14:45

Acts 6:1-7

Bearing Fruit will always make an impact.

Part 2

Luke 10:30-37

You are one of the most valuable key players in the Church (or should be) that draws people to Christ.

Acts 6 the church did things and the community noticed and the word spread, the church increased. Not that we do thinks to be seen of men or to toot our own horn.

Philippians 4:14-20 Mark 12:41-44

1. Help for the present situation

The help we give can change a life spiritually and even physically.

So are your good works committed to peoples salvation.

Giving is an act of Worship and blessing- Receiving is an act of blessing. Never turn down someones offer of help. You will be robbing them of their blessing and act of worship.

2. Help for the long term

For the Inn Keeper this was 24 days worth of pay.

3. Evaluate the situation in the future.

When I return I will determine what is still needed.

Close: What is it worth to you to change a life. There are others out there waiting for life changing moments (physically and Spiritually). Are you a GOOD SAMARITAN?
