"Albert;” “Do you want to be on that walker for the rest of your life? That was the question before me in rehab. No! I replied. “Your gonna have to start trusting that leg.” That’s very hard concept to wrap my mind around that concept. But in all reality I wonder how many people have the same mind set when it comes to telling the truth. How many people lie just because it is easier or they think the truth will get them in trouble. Here’s what I have come to realize about success it takes trust. But it also requires something else that should come natural to every Christian.
It requires faith to trust people and to have people trust you.
First of all I want you to know that trust and integrity are two different parts of our character. Integrity is our characters intention and trust is our character creating respect. They really go hand in hand. If people can not trust us then how can they trust our integrity. I truly believe if we develop patience, integrity, trust it is a great foundation for success. When we add the truth of Gods word to that foundation Satan begins to quiver. I’m not sure who said it, but I like the thought; “you need to crawl before you can walk, and walk before you can run” If we are going to run the race set before us as a church. Then people are gonna have to see this church as trustworthy. That’s the implication upon us. That is gonna take teamwork. Coach Mike Krzyzewski the coach for Duke Blue Devils said; “To me, teamwork is the beauty of our sport, where you have five acting as one. You become selfless.” Some one said “The we over me mentality leads to, us over them victories.” Then Dan Bailey said, “champions have no off seasons.” I look at the victories this church has had over the last year. Its because of being faithful to prayer, teaching, Lords Supper, and fellowship. I know without any doubt in my heart that if this church stays committed to those things then God has an opportunity to make this a light on the hill. This is the fact that if we want people to trust this church then we must put our full trust in God. Titus 2:10 and 1st Timothy 3:11 (read).
Trust begins with trusting in Gods word. When you make Gods Word your way of life. People are going to see you as trustworthy. But beware because there are greedy evil people and their whole agenda is to tear you down. They will try everything in their power to destroy your trustworthiness. That’s why our words need to speak the truth. A total surrender to God is the bases for trust. If you trust God enough to build your character. Then others are going to see you as trustworthy. If we speak the truth all the time that means we get the facts before we speak on anything. If our words are reliable then that makes our church reliable. This all goes back on each one of our characters. So the question before each one of us is not do we have knowledge. But are we trustworthy? We have about 1 minute to make an impression upon a person. If you are trustworthy your going to be like a glass of ice water in Death Valley. Proverbs 28:25 “The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper.” Greedy people are never satisfied, they can never get their belly full of conflict. The result is chaos in a community and a nation. Do you see why trustworthiness is such a valuable asset?
